Sri Lanka, March 29 -- In the latest data released by the Department of Census and Statistics (DCS), the overall rate of inflation, as measured by the Colombo Consumer Price Index (CCPI) on a year-on-year basis, has shown a notable decrease in March 2024.

In March 2024, headline inflation, as measured by the year-on-year (Y-o-Y) change in the Colombo Consumer Price Index (CCPI, 2021=100), sharply decelerated to 0.9% from 5.9% in February 2024. This substantial decrease aligns closely with the projections made by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL). According to the CCPI data, the index value for February 2024 stood at 200.6, which declined to 196.7 in March 2024, reflecting a monthly change of -1.94% from -0.05% in February.
