Sri Lanka, Feb. 8 -- A controlled price for domestic gas is being requested by consumer organisations from the government, pointing out that such regulation is essential due to frequent inconsistencies in gas price hikes. Consumers also report facing significant hardship as the cost of this essential commodity rises repeatedly.
Laugfs Gas increased the price of a 12.5kg cylinder by Rs. 80 effective from midnight yesterday (06), bringing the new price to Rs. 4,330. The 5kg cylinder rose by Rs. 32, now retailing at Rs. 1,742. This follows a previous hike in January where Laugfs raised prices by Rs. 150 for 12.5kg cylinders and Rs. 65 for 5kg cylinders.
