Sri Lanka, Sept. 8 -- Construction of the first phase of the Central Expressway, running from Kadawatha to Mirigama, is set to restart in the coming weeks.

A senior economic adviser to the President has confirmed that a new financial agreement has been reached with China to revive the long-stalled infrastructure project.

Duminda Hulangamuwa, the President's Senior Economic Adviser, announced at the annual general meeting of the Planters' Association that the government had finalised financial assistance from China to continue the thirty-seven-kilometre stretch of the expressway.
