Sri Lanka, April 19 -- Sri Lanka's Constitutional Council is slated to convene on the 22nd of this month with the crucial task of appointing a suitable individual to fill the vacant position of Auditor General.

Insiders suggest that the President is expected to put forward a nominee for this significant role to the Speaker in the coming days.

The vacancy arose following the retirement of the former Auditor General, Mr. W. P. C. Wickramaratne, on April 8.

Currently, keen attention is focused on two senior officials within the National Audit Office. Speculation is rife that one of these experienced individuals is widely tipped to be named as the next Auditor General.
