Sri Lanka, Aug. 29 -- The Ministry of Health's National STD/AIDS Control Programme has put forward a proposal to introduce HIV and other sexually transmitted infection prevention methods into the school curriculum.

The recommendations include teaching about condom use, as well as Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) and Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP). The National Institute of Education is expected to add this content to the Grade 10 Science textbook.

The move comes as a response to gaps identified in the current syllabus, which only mentions "responsible sexual behaviour" without detailing specific prevention strategies.
