Sri Lanka, Dec. 16 -- The Equal Rights Movement handed a letter to the President citing concerns that official disaster notices and government statements are only issued in the Sinhala language.

Speaking to the media after delivering the letter to the Presidential Secretariat, National Committee Member of the Equal Rights Movement, Ven. Tennen Gnanalankara Thera, stated:

"We decided to submit a letter to the President today, as the Equal Rights Movement, to inform him about an oversight by the government during the recent disaster. When we look at the official government announcements during this crisis, a problem arises for us."
