Sri Lanka, June 21 -- A complaint has been lodged with the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) against former President Maithripala Sirisena regarding an alleged misappropriation of funds.
The complaint was filed by Lakshman Jayawardena, the Vice Chairman of the Eppawala Co-operative Society.
He accuses former President Sirisena of misusing Rs. 27.5 million from the President's Fund in 2019 for the construction of a building on land belonging to the Eppawala Co-operative Society.
The complainant stated that the land was allocated for the construction of a ceremonial hall, with an estimated cost of Rs. 130 million.
