Sri Lanka, Feb. 19 -- Due to a significant number of patients waiting for surgeries in government hospitals, a committee will be appointed to explore measures that the President's Fund can take to minimize these queues. This decision was made during a special discussion led by the Secretary to the President, Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, with health department heads.

The Secretary has requested the committee to submit a report within a month, after which further actions will be taken. The discussion highlighted the plight of numerous patients, including those with heart, eye, and pediatric conditions, who are awaiting surgeries.
