Sri Lanka, May 2 -- The Sabaragamuwa University administration has appointed a three-member committee, chaired by Senior Professor A.A.Y. Amarasinghe, to investigate the death of a second-year student of the Faculty of Technology at the university.
Police stated that statements have been recorded from 16 students of the same university regarding the complaint related to the incident.
The Ministry of Higher Education also appointed a board of inquiry yesterday to investigate the student's death.
The 23-year-old student, Charith Dilshan, a resident of the Pussellawa Ihala Gama area, had taken his own life on April 29.
The final rites of the deceased Charith were performed yesterday.
