Sri Lanka, May 18 -- Several commemorative events were organised across the island today in memory of those who died and went missing in the war.

In Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte, a commemoration ceremony was held near the War Heroes' Memorial, led by National Freedom Front leader Wimal Weerawansa.

Floral tributes were laid at the memorial, and the mother of war hero Hasalaka Gamini, who sacrificed his life at Elephant Pass, also participated.

In Tissamaharama, a religious ceremony was organised at the Raja Maha Viharaya, with the participation of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna National Organiser and Member of Parliament Namal Rajapaksa, to honour the war heroes who dedicated their lives to ending the thirty-year conflict and uniting the coun...
