Sri Lanka, June 20 -- Member of Parliament Dayasiri Jayasekara raised concerns in Parliament today (20), regarding a significant teacher shortage in national schools in Colombo.
Addressing Deputy Minister of Education and Higher Education Assumes Duties. Dr. Madura Seneviratne, MP Jayasekara questioned whether the Ministry was aware of this shortage.
He specifically cited Isipathana College, Colombo, stating, "We thought that national schools would not have a teacher crisis. Now I have received some information. Especially in Isipathana College, there is a shortage of 52 teachers. That means more than 25 to 30 per cent of teachers are missing."
