Sri Lanka, April 29 -- Coconut prices in several parts of the country have seen an upward trend.

According to the Chairman of the Coconut Cultivation Board, Dr. Sunimal Jayakody, coconuts that were previously selling for approximately 180 rupees are now being priced between 220 and 240 rupees.

However, the Coconut Research Institute has projected a significant increase in the national coconut harvest for May and June, with an expected yield exceeding 500 million nuts.

The Chairman of the Coconut Cultivation Board believes that this surge in supply will likely lead to a decrease in coconut prices in the near future.
