Sri Lanka, May 6 -- The Criminal Investigation Department has initiated an investigation into a complaint regarding false statements made on social media against President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

According to police reports, the social media post in question is alleged to have made statements that could potentially disrupt public peace and national security. In order to identify the source of these claims, the CID has issued a notice under Section 109(6) of the Criminal Procedure Code. The individual who made the statement, Thusitha Haloluwa, has been summoned to appear before the CID at 10 AM tomorrow (7) for questioning.
