Sri Lanka, June 3 -- The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) today (3), informed Fort Magistrate Nilupuli Lankapura that it has initiated investigations into statements made by MP Dayasiri Jayasekara and Pivithuru Hela Urumaya leader Udaya Gammanpila regarding the release of a portion of containers detained at customs.
The CID stated that these investigations stem from a complaint filed by Attorney-at-Law Y. G. Nalin Sampath Kumara on May 29.
The CID also requested, and was granted by the court, an order to obtain CDs containing unedited footage from the television channels that aired the statements made by the two politicians.
