Sri Lanka, Sept. 9 -- The Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court today (09) granted permission to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to record a statement from Shadhika Lakshaani, the wife of "Backhoe Saman," who is currently in remand custody on money laundering charges.
The CID presented a motion to the court, requesting to record a statement from Lakshaani, who is also in remand custody.
After considering the request, Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanka S. Bodaragama ordered prison authorities to facilitate the recording of a statement from the suspect by the CID next Monday. The suspect was previously remanded until the 18th of this month on charges related to money laundering.
