Sri Lanka, July 26 -- Two Chinese nationals have been arrested in the Ratnapura district.

One was apprehended with 4,000 100-yuan notes, which were suspected to be counterfeits, while another was caught with 6 kg and 32 grams of fake gemstones.

In the first incident, officers from the Police Special Task Force (STF) Kahawatta camp arrested a 28-year-old Chinese national yesterday (25), in the Thiruwanaketiya area of Ratnapura, after finding him in possession of the suspected counterfeit currency.

Separately, in the same Thiruwanaketiya area, another Chinese national was arrested with 6 kg and 32 grams of what are believed to be fake gemstones.

Both individuals are currently in police custody, and investigations are ongoing.
