Sri Lanka, March 10 -- A Chinese woman sustained serious injuries after falling from a train on the Upcountry Railway today. The incident occurred near the Idalgashinna 19 platform in Haputale while she was traveling from Nanuoya to Badulla.

The 35-year-old woman, identified as Yang Jie, reportedly fell after her head struck the platform, resulting in severe head and leg injuries.

She was initially admitted to the Haputale Regional Hospital before being transferred to the Diyatalawa Base Hospital and later to the Badulla Teaching Hospital for further treatment.

Hospital sources confirm that her condition remains critical. Haputale Police are investigating the incident.
