Sri Lanka, Jan. 13 -- Foreign Affairs Minister Vijitha Herath requested assistance from Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to reconstruct roads, railways, and bridges damaged by Cyclone Ditwah.
The request was made during a meeting at a hotel in Negombo yesterday (12), as the Chinese official stopped in Sri Lanka while traveling back to China from South Africa.
Minister Wang Yi committed to personally intervening to facilitate this support, according to an update shared by Minister Herath on social media.
During the visit, Wang Yi's first to an Asian nation this year, the two diplomats also discussed the rapid commencement of the Chinese oil refinery project in Hambantota.
