Sri Lanka, Aug. 28 -- The mass grave at Chemmani has become the second largest mass grave site discovered in Sri Lanka, as more remains were unearthed in ongoing excavations.
On Tuesday, the bones of 16 more people were found, bringing the total number of skeletons at the site to 166.
According to Attorney Ranitha Gnanarajah, who is representing the victims' families, the remains include those of several children and infants, which will be confirmed after forensic examination.
This is the highest number of human skeletons to be unearthed from the site in a single day.
The discovery makes Chemmani the second largest mass grave in the country, surpassing the 155 skeletons found in Matale in 2013.
