Sri Lanka, June 17 -- Today (17), saw significant disruptions and contentious outcomes in local government body elections across Sri Lanka, particularly in the selection of chairmen and deputy chairmen.

Meetings for the Seethawaka Pradeshiya Sabha, Seethawaka Urban Council, and Mawatagama Pradeshiya Sabha were postponed indefinitely due to disputes over achieving a majority.

In some instances, such as the Dehiowita Pradeshiya Sabha and Haputale Pradeshiya Sabha, leaders were chosen by drawing lots due to tied votes.
