Sri Lanka, May 2 -- A Special Import License will no longer be required to import brand-new electric vehicles.
The relevant gazette notification, signed by President Anura Kumara Disanayake in his capacity as the Minister of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development, indicates that this decision came into effect on April 29.
Consequently, the previous requirement to obtain a license from the Controller General of Imports and Exports Control for importing new electric motorcycles has been abolished.
However, the gazette specifies that a license will still be necessary for the import of used electric motorcycles.
