SriLanka, Feb. 20 -- Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama today (20) ordered the bribery case against Member of Parliament Chamara Sampath Dassanayake and the former Deputy Secretary (Finance) of the Uva Provincial Council to be recalled on July 7.

The order was issued when the case was called before the court today. MP Chamara Sampath Dassanayake and the former Deputy Secretary (Finance) of the Uva Provincial Council, Sumithra Silva, appeared in court. Both suspects are currently released on bail. The case involves an alleged loss of Rs. 17.3 million to the government caused by the withdrawal of fixed deposits belonging to the Uva Provincial Council at the National Savings Bank in the Badulla District before their maturity.
