Sri Lanka, Feb. 18 -- Attorney-at-law Sandamali Chandrasekara, the second Chairperson appointed to Lanka Sugar Private Company by the current government, resigned from her position.

Previously, Rukshan Gunathilaka served as the Chairman before resigning shortly after his appointment by the present administration.

Sandamali Chandrasekara reportedly informed the subject Minister, Sunil Handunnetti, of her decision on the 17th.

She informed the Minister that since the state-owned Lanka Sugar Company operates under strict financial regulation and losses, mandatory limits exist on responding to external requests to ensure accountability.
