Sri Lanka, Sept. 4 -- The Ceylon Electricity Board Engineers' Union (CEBEU) has initiated a 'work-to-rule' protest starting at midnight tonight (04).

The action is scheduled to last until the 15th of September and is a response to what the union describes as extreme dissatisfaction with the CEB's administration and the ongoing power sector reforms.

In a letter addressed to the CEB Chairman, Professor Udayanga Hemapala, the union cited the repeated delay in appointing Additional General Managers as a primary reason for the protest.

The CEBEU argues that this delay has created a bottleneck for promotions for electrical engineers and is hindering the reform process.
