Sri Lanka, Feb. 3 -- The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) Special Investigation Unit successfully recovered over Rs. 92 million following a series of island-wide raids conducted throughout 2025 to combat fraudulent electricity consumption.

A total of Rs. 92,770,061.21 was collected as a result of these operations. This figure includes Rs. 90,242,561.21 to cover losses incurred by the CEB and an additional Rs. 2,527,500.00 in court fines. The unit's investigations uncovered 1,259 instances of meter tampering and 72 cases of illegal tapping using hooks on main power lines.
