Sri Lanka, Jan. 14 -- Sri Lanka should pursue a revision of targets set under the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Extended Fund Facility (EFF) due to the adverse impact of Cyclone Dithwa. Central Bank Governor Dr Nandalal Weerasinghe explained that the disaster necessitated significant additional budgetary spending, making previous fiscal goals difficult to meet.

An IMF delegation is scheduled to visit the island later this month for the fifth review of the program. Speaking during a television program, the Governor indicated that discussions regarding the modification of these targets will take place during the officials' visit.
