Sri Lanka, March 1 -- A tragic accident occurred this afternoon (01) when a car collided with a train at the railway crossing on the second lane of Hetti Street, Weligama.

According to Weligama Police, two women were injured in the crash involving a train traveling from Vavuniya to Beliatta.

The accident took place while a mother was driving her daughter to an extra class in Weligama town. Both sustained injuries and were admitted to Matara Hospital for treatment.

Weligama Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
