Sri Lanka, April 16 -- The recently introduced Calypso train service, catering to tourists travelling from Nanu Oya to Demodara, generated an income of 2.1 million rupees yesterday (15), according to the Railway Department.

Railway General Manager Dhammika Jayasundara stated that special trains will be operational from Friday to Sunday (18-20) to facilitate the return of individuals who travelled to their villages for the Sinhala and Tamil New Year.

He further added that starting Friday (18), eight trains will run daily from Colombo to Kandy to accommodate pilgrims visiting the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic.
