Sri Lanka, July 14 -- A Cabinet paper has been submitted to halt the sale of unpackaged, or "loose," coconut oil in the market, according to Shantha Ranawaka, Chairman of the Coconut Development Authority.

He made this announcement yesterday (13).

Ranawaka stated that various types of oils are being sold in the market under the guise of coconut oil, and many claim that consuming these mixed oils leads to non-communicable diseases.

Therefore, he said, all oils released to the market as coconut oil must be properly packaged and include all necessary information, including the manufacturer's details.
