Sri Lanka, Oct. 28 -- Cabinet approval has been granted to recruit 8,547 new individuals to the public service.

This cohort is set to be recruited into government ministries, provincial councils, and commissions.

The largest number of recruits, 5,198 individuals, will be absorbed by the Ministry of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs.

Other key allocations include 1,261 for the Ministry of Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs; 414 for the Western Provincial Council; and 355 for the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
