Sri Lanka, Dec. 24 -- The sale and use of polythene products, including lunch sheets, straws, cups, spoons, and forks, are prohibited within the Sri Pada environmental zone following Cabinet approval.
Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Dr. NalindaJayatissa stated that this measure aims to protect the sensitive environment during the pilgrimage season.
Regarding the appointment of a new Auditor General, the Minister noted that the delay stems from the actions of the Constitutional Council.
He clarified during the Cabinet press briefing that the President has already submitted the appropriate nominations for the position.
