Sri Lanka, Feb. 21 -- The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the amendment of the National Transport Commission Act No. 37 of 1991 to address contemporary challenges and regulate currently unregulated transport sectors.

A draft bill, prepared by the Legal Draftsman to update the legislation, could not be passed earlier due to the dissolution of Parliament. With Cabinet approval, the bill will now be published in the government gazette before being resubmitted to Parliament for approval.
