Sri Lanka, Aug. 5 -- The Cabinet has approved a proposal to create a "Virtual City in Kandy" as a pilot project for the wider Virtual City Creation Project. The project will digitally recreate the city of Kandy, including the historic Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The project is planned in two parts. The first phase will focus on digitally creating 58 key tourist attractions and sites of interest within Kandy. The second phase will involve the technical creation of the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic complex and 20 other related sites of historical and tourist importance.
