Srilanka, Dec. 1 -- The Presidential Media Division (PMD) announced that the Cabinet has approved the establishment of the "Rebuilding Sri Lanka" Fund. The fund's primary objective is the long-term reconstruction of the country following the severe destruction caused by Cyclone "Ditwah."

The fund is set to be established as a statutory fund under the Presidential Secretariat. Its Management Committee will comprise representatives from both the government and the private sector.

The committee will be chaired by the Minister of Labour and Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning, Dr. Anil Jayantha Fernando, with Presidential Senior Additional Secretary G. M. R. D. Aponsu serving as the Convener.
