Sri Lanka, July 5 -- A committee appointed by the Cabinet of Ministers on June 23, 2025, has submitted its recommendations regarding student admissions to the medical faculty of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU).

The committee comprised:

Air Vice Marshal (Rtd) Sampath Thuyacontha, Secretary to the Ministry of Defence (Chairman)

Nalaka Kaluwewa, Secretary to the Ministry of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education (Member)

Dr Anil Jasinghe, Secretary to the Ministry of Health and Mass Media (Member)

The recommendations include:

Only one batch of local medical students will be admitted per year.
