Sri Lanka, March 23 -- The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) announced plans to increase raids on vendors selling rice at inflated prices during the upcoming festive season.
The authority revealed that some fake vendors and mill owners are reportedly selling rice at varied prices and hoarding stocks.
A maximum retail price has been set for Kekulu, Nadu, Samba, and Keeri Samba rice varieties.
The CAA also confirmed that over 500 vendors were penalized last year for selling rice above regulated prices.
