Sri Lanka, Aug. 29 -- A 36-year-old businessman from Colombo has been arrested at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) for attempting to smuggle mobile phones and cardamom worth approximately Rs. 20 million into the country.
Customs officers apprehended the individual yesterday morning (28) as he attempted to pass through the 'Green Channel' of the airport.
A search of his six pieces of luggage revealed 165 mobile phones and 102 kilograms of cardamom.
Further investigations into the incident are currently underway.
