Sri Lanka, June 20 -- A Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) bus narrowly escaped plunging down a precipice in the Alagolla area, after its wheel fell into a nearby drain.

The incident occurred after the bus experienced a mechanical fault.

The driver and conductor had disembarked to investigate the issue when the bus began to roll backwards.

It came to a halt near a house, teetering on the edge of a precipice, but was prevented from falling further by its wheel catching in a drain.

Approximately ten passengers were inside the bus at the time, but fortunately, no one was injured.

The bus involved belongs to the Keppetipola Depot.

Police, however, attribute the incident to the driver's negligence.
