Sri Lanka, July 5 -- The New People's Front has filed a complaint with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) against the current Speaker.

The complaint alleges that the Speaker is misusing public funds by utilising an additional official vehicle and an official residence, and that these facilities are also being used by his personal secretary.

Attempts to contact the Speaker for comment were unsuccessful, as he is reportedly currently abroad.

However, the Speaker's media unit stated that the accusations are baseless and that an official media statement on the matter will be released in due course.
