Sri Lanka, March 28 -- The Bribery or Corruption Commission has decided to strictly enforce existing bribery laws, initiating investigations against any individual regardless of rank under the new Anti-Corruption Act.

Parliamentarian Chamara Sampath Dassanayake was remanded until the 1st of next month by the Colombo Magistrate's Court after being arrested by the Bribery Commission.

He was arrested following a statement he provided on three charges. The court granted him bail on two charges but remanded him on the third.
