Sri Lanka, July 16 -- A young boy has died in the Hanguranketha area due to a snakebite, reportedly after a delay in receiving proper medical attention.
The incident occurred on July 13, when the child was bitten by a cobra.
Instead of taking the child to a hospital, the parents reportedly took him to a local snake charmer.
The snake charmer is said to have tied a cloth strip around the child's leg to prevent the venom from spreading.
Reports indicate that the child's leg remained tied with this cloth for nearly a day.
Following this, the child's health deteriorated.
The parents then admitted the child to the nearest Rikillagaskada Hospital, where the child passed away.
