Sri Lanka, Aug. 9 -- Initial investigations into a shooting in the Borella - Wanathamulla area have revealed that the 23-year-old man who died was the intended target.

The victim has been identified as Suresh Madushan, a resident of Kelaniya.

Police have also identified the gunman and have launched an operation to apprehend him.

One suspect has already been arrested over the incident.

Investigations suggest the shooting was a result of a conflict between two drug traffickers, "Wanathe Chathu," who is currently in Dubai, and "Wanathe Duminda."

According to reports, Madushan was a key figure in "Wanathe Chathu's" drug network in Sri Lanka and had been released from remand custody on drug charges just a few days ago.
