Sri Lanka, April 25 -- Sri Lanka's tourism industry is on a promising path to recovery, with nearly 850,000 tourist arrivals recorded in the first quarter of this year.

Buddhika Hewawasam, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, is optimistic that the country will reach 900,000 arrivals by the end of the month.

Speaking about the first quarter of 2025, Hewawasam confirmed that the average arrivals were 240,000 per month in January, February, and March.

He added that if Sri Lanka can maintain this pace, it is on track to meet its ambitious target of 3 million tourists and over USD 5 billion in revenue by the end of the year.
