Sri Lanka, June 8 -- A blue and yellow macaw, has been stolen from its cage at the National Zoological Gardens in Dehiwala.

Security camera footage from a zoo shop captured the theft, which occurred on the night of the 4th of June.

Reports indicate that the stolen macaw was one of 30 such birds housed in the same cage.

The cage keeper, upon arriving for duty the following morning, discovered that the padlock securing the cage had been broken.

Upon notifying higher officials, an inspection confirmed that one blue and yellow macaw was missing.

Subsequently, the zoo's administration reportedly filed a complaint regarding the missing macaw with the Dehiwala Police through a security officer.
