Srilanka, May 21 -- The U.S. Embassy in Sri Lanka is warning the public of an increase in social media accounts impersonating officials of the U.S. Embassy.

The Embassy requested the public to verify any information from the official website at lk.usembassy.gov/ and follow only the verified Embassy social media accounts.

They also noted that Ambassador Julie Chung has an official profile on X, but is not active on Facebook, Instagram, Telegram, or any other social media platform.

It was also highlighted that the U.S. Embassy Consular officials do not contact individuals via social media platforms regarding U.S. visa services.
