Sri Lanka, July 5 -- Beira Lake in Colombo is set to be reintroduced as an aerodrome to accommodate water-landing aircraft.

This development was discussed at a meeting chaired by the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Air Vice Marshal (Rtd) Sampath Thuyacontha.

The meeting focused on key aspects including security, environmental concerns, and fostering collaboration among stakeholders.

This initiative is expected to significantly boost Sri Lanka's tourism and domestic aviation industries.

Cinnamon Air, operating under Saffron Aviation, is slated to lead the aerodrome's operations.

Officials from the Sri Lanka Air Force also participated in the discussions.
