SriLanka, Jan. 25 -- The Colombo Chief Magistrate, Asanga S. Bodaragama, has ordered the further remand of a Beat Forest Officer until February 6 for allegedly soliciting and accepting a bribe of Rs. 30,000 and a bottle of liquor.
The suspect, who is attached to the Hulannuge Beat Forest Office, was arrested by officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) on January 12.
The arrest was made following a complaint lodged by a resident of Hulannuge.
According to the Bribery Commission, the officer had allegedly demanded the bribe in exchange for refraining from instituting legal action against the complainant.
