Sri Lanka, Jan. 21 -- The Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) expressed profound concern over a series of social media posts targeting the Attorney General.
The association warned that these online campaigns constitute an unfair attempt to interfere with the independence of one of the nation's most critical legal institutions.
The BASL highlighted that the Attorney General serves a quasi-judicial function in criminal matters.
This role requires the office to objectively evaluate evidence provided by investigating authorities to determine if the material is legally admissible and if there is a reasonable prospect of securing a conviction.
