Sri Lanka, Feb. 2 -- The Trincomalee Magistrate's Court ordered that Venerable Balangoda Kassapa Thera, three other monks, and six additional individuals remain in remand custody until February 9.
The group appeared before the court today, February 2, following their arrest regarding unauthorised construction. The charges involve the illegal placement of a Buddha statue within the coastal zone of Fort Frederick in Trincomalee.
Authorities took the group into custody after they allegedly bypassed official regulations to establish the religious monument in the protected coastal area.
