Sri Lanka, April 20 -- Citing a lack of transparency, the government has decided to conduct an audit into the expenses incurred by two administrations in Parliament over the last 10 years.

Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne has reportedly already instructed the Auditor General to provide an urgent audit report on this matter.

The Speaker's Office stated that the Speaker was dissatisfied with the expense records following issues that arose concerning deficit spending in Parliament on the 8th and 9th.

They also noted that parliamentary audit work had been carried out by several private institutions during that period.
